1) A Copyright Has to Go from Being a Limit to Being a Tool

CevallosThe Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR is its acronym in English), belongs to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), held in Geneva its twenty-ninth session, in which Ecuador, through the IEPI and Santiago Cevallos, who is and National Director of Copyright and Related Rights, took a leading part. Cevallos spoke about the main points and issues discussed at the meeting.

arteEl arte es sin duda una de las actividades más nobles del ser humano. Al mismo tiempo, es uno de los ámbitos más difíciles de regular. Por esta razón, entre otras, la mayoría de artistas realizan su trabajo al margen de las protecciones para este tipo de producciones. Uno de estos casos es el Begoña Salas, conocida con el nombre artístico “Bego”. Ella es una joven pintora colombiana radicada en Quito dedicada con predilección a la pintura al óleo, aunque realiza también, según pedidos, trabajos de diseño e ilustración.

4) IEPI ratifica importancia de trabajar junto universidades

centro de IPEl IEPI firmó un Convenio de Cooperación Interinstitucional con la Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil para generar capacitaciones con docentes, investigadores y estudiantes en el área tecnológica, y búsqueda de patentes e innovación. Esta universidad ya cuenta con nueve productos patentables, fruto de las investigaciones que viene realizando.

6) INIAP un aliado estratégico para el Buen Vivir

INIAPLa estación experimental tropical Pichilingue es una dependencia del  Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Agropecuarias (INIAP), ubicada en Quevedo, provincia de Los Ríos. En esta estación se realiza investigación para el mejoramiento y obtención de nuevas variedades vegetales y animales, cuyos resultados son registrados en el IEPI y luego liberados después al mercado para contribuir a la reactivación de programas de agricultura y comercialización en todo el país.
