Members are under pressure to produce a first draft text by 31 March. The meeting this week will be informal, and will address the topic of notifications of GIs added to the register. The topic is the first of six focal points to be addressed by members as proposed by Darlington Mwape, chair of the informal session (IPW, WTO/TRIPS, 13 December 2010). The next formal meeting on GIs could take place before or after the next meeting of the Council on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS), scheduled for 1-2 March.
