Mario Ottiglio is stepping down as director of public affairs, communications & global health policy at the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers in Geneva. He will be staying in Geneva as the managing director of the new office of the High Lantern Group, a US consulting firm.

The press release announcing his move is available here [pdf].

According to the press release, the new Geneva office will “serve as a springboard to meet the needs of clients based in other key hubs across Europe and Asia, who can benefit from High Lantern Group’s expertise in public affairs, communications, and reputation as powerful drivers of business development, corporate value enhancement and stakeholder relationships.”

With the new Geneva office, High Lantern establishes its first presence in Europe, its first office outside the United States.

“Based on my experience in the international pharmaceutical industry, working to create synergies across public and private sectors, I recognized that High Lantern Group brings a unique approach to success in an ever-changing business landscape,” Ottiglio said in the release.

Ottiglio has held leadership roles at international health organisations for more than a decade, according to the release, including in government and private sector. He was at IFPMA for nine years.

Before IFPMA, he collaborated with governments in Geneva on health, human rights and disarmament issues, and prior to that he held roles in field marketing for a small agency. He also is a professional musician, having played in an Italian indie band.

Michael W. Hodin, Ph.D., managing partner at High Lantern Group, said: “I am confident that Mario’s expertise and proven professional achievements, especially in the pharmaceutical, healthcare and life sciences sectors, will be a huge benefit to our existing clients and provide the foundation for serving a growing global client base. Moreover, our unique expertise through the Global Coalition on Aging (www.globalcoalitiononaging.com) will gain further leverage through our new presence in Geneva.”
