The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has launched a joint initiative with Impact Hub, an international community of social entrepreneurs. The initiative is a platform named “#Accelerate2030,” aiming at supporting and promoting the most promising impact-driven ventures focusing on the UN Sustainable Developments Goals (SDGs).

The aim of #Accelerate2030 is to “empower impact-driven innovators and entrepreneurs who are committed to tackling the biggest social and environment problems of our time,” according to ImpactHub.

To be eligible for #Accelerate2030, the release said, entrepreneurs, “need to be working on solutions focused on one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals. They don’t have to be members of Impact Hub but they need to apply through the Impact Hub in their country,” according to a UNDP press release.

For the first edition of #Accelerate2030, entrepreneurs from the following countries are invited to apply: Mali, Ghana, Sudan, Malaysia, Philippines, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Russia and Armenia, which host national Impact Hubs.

Entry requirements are the following:

– Location and experience: The venture is based in one of the 10 eligible countries and has existed for at least 2 years

– Mission: The venture works on projects that create social impact and are clearly connected to one or more of the SDGs

– Achievements: Enterprises have carried out some pilot or testing work/have achieved a few paying customers before application

– Scalability: The business solution has a strong potential for global scaling and replicability #Accelerate2030 will accept applications until 25 August from the Impact Hub’s in participating cities. A selection will designate five entrepreneurs who will have the opportunity to participate in the inaugural Social Good Summit Geneva, on 6 October.
