New Draft WIPO Broadcasting Treaty Text Published

The World Intellectual Property Organization has circulated a new draft text on definitions in the global broadcasting copyright treaty that is under discussion at the UN agency. The draft was prepared by the chair of the WIPO Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR), which will meet later this spring.

The draft text, entitled “Revised Consolidated Text On Definitions, Object Of Protection, Rights To Be Granted And Other Issues, is available here [pdf].

The text covers subjects such as definitions, objects of protection, rights to be granted, beneficiaries, limitations and exceptions, and includes alternatives.

The committee chair is Daren Tang Heng Shim of Singapore.
