IP-Watch Seeking Writers In Brussels, Washington

ipw_logo_2016Intellectual Property Watch is seeking occasional Freelance Writers based in the Washington DC Metro area; Geneva, Switzerland; San Francisco Bay area; and in Brussels or London. Writers will assist with reporting, writing and publishing stories on international intellectual property and innovation policymaking and law. We are looking for writers who are experienced with delivering multimedia content on a digital news platform and through social media.

 

Responsibilities:

The Freelance Writer’s primary responsibility is to report, write and possibly edit stories and features. S/he will cover meetings and events in the region and possibly beyond.

Volume of work is dependent on availability, events/issues, and organization budget. Minimum of two stories per month is expected for a period to be mutually agreed.

The Freelance Writer also maintains a contact network in the IP, trade and tech communities.

The Freelance Writer is a flexible, self-motivated and dynamic person with a proven ability to take initiative and work with minimum supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of related writing experience (in journalism or policy analysis); press credentials preferred
  • Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience) in journalism, international relations, public policy, development policy or international law – preferred, not required
  • Prior experience in publishing regular reports and/or with a news service
  • High professional standards and presentation skills
  • Reliable, dynamic and able to work independently and under pressure when meeting tight deadlines
  • Strong interest in the fields of intellectual property, innovation and international trade
  • Strong English essential

Employment rate: Freelance

Start date: As soon as possible

Location: Washington DC; Geneva; San Francisco; Brussels/London. Other global capitals may be considered in the future.
