The conference programme is here. On 20 June, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the internet domain name system coordinator, approved a proposal opening the system to a large expansion in generic top-level domain names (like .com). “While this opening up of the domain names system presents companies with new and innovative ways to market their brand, products and cause, it also increases trademark and security risks, particularly in a world where business presence on the Internet has become increasingly difficult to manage,” an ICC release said. The conference will look closely at the application process that is about to begin for businesses and lawyers, identifying opportunities and challenges, management strategies and enforcement and dispute resolution procedures.
