The expert group is part of the WHO global strategy and plan of action on public health, innovation and intellectual property [pdf], which covers the years 2008-2013 (IPW, WHO, 22 January 2011). The CEWG is also asked to consider additional proposals from member states and from other stakeholders, according to a WHO release. There will be one open session, on 5 April, an open forum on 6 April where participants can make presentations on a specific theme or proposal, and an open briefing on 7 April. The working group is due to report to the World Health Assembly from 16-24 May.
